How to... create a new call using Audacity
If you want to create a new call for a player you can merge together two or more existing calls with Audacity. We can consider this an advanced editing skill but it is not so difficult, just follow this example to understand all the steps. I am using italian commentary and I want to create a call for Saumel a player of Torino. I can create it combining together the syllables SAU – MEL
1) Search for a call starting with “Sau”, using the “search starting with” tool I can find Saudati.
2) Double click on the sample in order to hear it. This will also create a .wav file that we will use later.
3) Search for a call ending with “mel”, using the “serach ending with” tool I can find Van Bommel.
4) Now click the edit sample button for launching Audacity, it will open the Van Bommel sample.
5) Open also the Saudati sample, you can find it in the FM10_temp folder.
6) Copy the Sau syllable form the Saudati call and paste it in the Van Bommel call so that the name Saumel can be heard.
7) Now save the created call in wav format using the menu File – Export As WAV and name the file (e.g. Saumel_0.wav) then close Audacity
8) Now select any player with only one call and clone it for Saumel
9) Last step: import the sound Saumel_0.wav just created clicking the Import Single Sample button.
Well, that's done. Don't forget to save before to exit SM.
